Biography

Temwa is a 2018 Rhodes Scholar from Malawi, recognized for her dedication to academics and mentorship. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Malawi, where she graduated with first-class degree in Social Science (Economics). During her tenure at the University of Oxford, she completed an MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance, followed by an MSc in Finance from Oxford Brookes University. Her academic pursuits focus on human capital valuation, option hedging, and financial risk management. Driven by a passion for service and mentorship, Temwa has navigated a diverse professional path, from intern roles at World Vision International and the World Bank Group to her current position as a Lecturer in Actuarial Science at the University of Malawi. She is deeply committed to empowering her students, moving beyond theory to help them apply complex mathematics to real-world challenges. By sharing her experience, she actively mentors the next generation of Malawian scholars, fostering the same academic rigor and curiosity that defined her own journey.
