Biography
Simone M. Askew, Fairfax, is a senior at the United States Military Academy where she is majoring in International History. Simone holds the top leadership position at West Point, the Brigade Commander of the United States Corps of Cadets, where she is responsible for the development and performance of 4,400 cadets. She is the first African American female in the 215-year history of the Academy to hold this post. Lauded for her leadership abilities, she received the Pinnacle Award from the Black Women's Agenda in Washington, DC. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the use of rape as a tool of genocide and mass atrocity.
