Sana Naeem

Biography

Sana is a law student at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She is deeply invested in rooting her legal education in an interdisciplinary engagement with history and sociology, particularly focusing on the colonial origins of South Asian law, and the gender bias inherent in legal texts and institutions. At LUMS, Sana has been the President of the Feminist Society, and been involved in several collective efforts to create a campus environment that is sensitive to power disparities based on class and gender. She has also previously worked in her hometown, Peshawar, with Internally Displaced Persons from the surrounding tribal areas, on issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Currently, she is researching the gendered nature of women's navigation of the Peshawar High Court.

At Oxford, Sana hopes to further her understanding of the law as a social phenomenon, and the experiences of underprivileged groups as they interact with, and live under the law.
