Biography
Mandela Patrick is currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Computer Science at Harvard University. He has spent his summers interning as a software engineer at Facebook, Goldman Sachs and Instagram. He now seeks to leverage these experiences to transform education, healthcare and banking in the Caribbean via machine learning and artificial intelligence. Additionally, he has represented Trinidad and Tobago in squash at both junior and senior levels. He is also a member of the the Harvard Men's Varsity Squash Team and was a 2017 scholar athlete award recipient. Due to his strong affinity to the Caribbean, he restarted the Harvard Caribbean Club his freshman year and served as its president during his first three years at Harvard. His impact in fostering community among Caribbean students on Harvard's campus led to him being awarded the 2016 30 Under 30 Caribbean American Emerging Leader and Changemaker Award. His other passions include teaching and mentorship. While at Harvard, he served as a teaching assistant for the second-level introduction to computer science class. Furthermore, he has volunteered as a Digital Literacy Project tutor to teach underprivileged students how to code and a SquashBusters volunteer to teach inner-city kids how to play squash.
