Biography
Tom studied a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney, graduating with First Class Honours and the University Medal. He debated for the University of Sydney Union, winning the Australian Intervarsity Debating Championship in his first year of university. Since finishing university, Tom has worked for global strategy firm L.E.K. Consulting and international development consultancy TechnoServe. He has mentored Sudanese refugees in Sydney, acted as a pro bono consultant to non-profits and conducted research on the second most remote inhabited island in the world. In the last year he worked as a business advisor to smallholder farmers in Ethiopia's coffee industry. While at Oxford, Tom intends to pursue his interest in economic development, with a focus on private sector development in emerging economies. For relaxation Tom enjoys playing cricket and rugby, and catching waves at the beach near his home.
