Mason Ji

Biography

Mason Ji, Shoreline, is an international trade lawyer and litigator. His practice focuses on a broad range of cross-border regulatory and international trade issues, as well as complex commercial litigation. He regularly publishes and speaks on international law, comparative law, and complex litigation in both English and Chinese. In addition to his legal practice, Mason teaches international trade and public law and supervises doctoral students at the University of Washington School of Law. Outside of the law, Mason has founded two non-profit organizations and hosts a bilingual radio show called “Decoding America.” Prior to the law, he was the youngest delegate to the United Nations General Assembly and adviser to the Mission of the Republic of Seychelles, in which capacity he negotiated nuclear disarmament, climate change, and human rights treaties. In 2015, he was appointed a White House Ambassador for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders by President Obama. Mason is a competitive table tennis player in the U.S. and China and was principal oboe for the Oxford University Philharmonic and the Yale Concert Band. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, a Master of Public Policy and a Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. from Yale University.
