Biography
Arslan is a scientist working in the field of Artificial Intelligence. He studied for a DPhil in Machine Learning at Oxford as a Rhodes scholar from 2016-2020. He was affiliated with the New College. After his DPhil, he moved to the Bay Area to pursue research on frontier AI models at DeepMind. Arslan did some of the early work on continual learning in the modern Deep Learning era (which started in the 2010s), and his research on these topics is widely cited. Outside research, he loves to read Urdu poetry, listen to Hindustani classical music, cook, run, play squash, and travel.Arslan loves the opportunity to mentor students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, reflecting his own similar journey. He is excited about ideas to set up endowment structures that create educational opportunities for people, leading to a step change in their lives.
