Biography

Since beginning his studies, Andrés has been involved in the 'DrYES' programme, providing education to high school students on various health issues. He has held numerous positions on The Western Australian Medical Students' Society and is involved in Uni Camp For Kids and Leading Youth Forward, programmes designed to positively influence socioeconomically disadvantaged children. He has conducted tuberculosis research in rural Mozambique, studied ophthalmology in Nepal and completed a year of medical training in rural Australia. A keen athlete, Andrés has won multiple gold medals at the Australian University Games, represented Australia at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and raised money for charities through marathon running. Beyond Oxford, he hopes to work in paediatric public health and contribute to Australian policy in this field.
