Elliot Akama-Garren

Biography

Elliot H. Akama-Garren is a physician-scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a major in Biology, where he conducted research at the Koch Institute for Cancer Research and was President of the MIT Men's Ice Hockey Team. While at the University of Oxford, he completed a M.Sc. in Neuroscience and an M.Res. in Clinical Medicine, conducting research at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. He was also Co-Captain of the Oxford University Ice Hockey Team Men's Blues and obtained a Half Blue with the Oxford University Gliding Club. He then completed an M.D. at Harvard Medical School through the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program and a Ph.D. in Immunology. Elliot is currently a resident physician in internal medicine in the Stanbury Physician Scientist Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, and continues to play ice hockey with the Harvard Med/Law Hockey team.
