Biography
Suzanne is in the final year of her Honours degree in International Development Studies, with a Minor in African Studies. Her areas of interest include youth and women's empowerment in Africa, leadership, human rights, and locally driven development initiatives. Suzanne has worked extensively in Ethiopia before and throughout university with Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), a Canadian-based international social enterprise, in the areas of women's leadership, information communications technology (ICT), and local business development. As part of a long association with the Student Association for Medical Aid (SAMA), she has designed and implemented a children's health project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Alongside her academic study and service roles, Suzanne is a keen sailor and swimmer, both recreationally and competitively, and practices digital photography. In the longer term, Suzanne envisages a career that fosters equality, engendering a form of development that mobilizes local talent and voices, in particular the voices of women.
