Biography
Saumya completed her BHSc at Western University through the Scholar's Electives program, focusing on health sciences and sociology with a particular interest in globalization. Alongside her studies, Saumya co-founded the Youth Social Innovation Capital Fund, which provides early stage financing to young social entrepreneurs. This impact investing fund was a finalist for the Most Promising New Financial Player in the Social Finance Awards 2012, and won a three year grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Saumya is a member of the Global Shapers community for the World Economic Forum, she volunteers on the board of Arts Starts, and is a graduate of The Next 36 entrepreneurship program. For relaxation, Saumya enjoys Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam) as a student, teacher and choreographer. In the long term, Saumya intends to pursue a career in entrepreneurship, and eventually in writing and politics.
