Biography
Heerden completes his Bachelor of Commerce in December this year. Sport has played a huge part in Heerden's life in recent years as a professional swimmer with the National Swim team. Junior World Champion in 2008, over the last couple of years he participated in the Commonwealth Games, World Student Games, All-Africa Games, World Championships and in 2012 he represented South Africa at the London Olympic Games. After reaching the pinnacle of his swimming career, Heerden now seeks a more balanced approach to sport. His latest sporting passion is mountain biking where he can simultaneously enjoy the sport and the beautiful environment. Heerden mentors younger swimmers, and teaches on a Computer Literacy Program which he initiated at the Vlaeberg Community Center for High School learners. Longer-term Heerden envisages a career in private equity and venture capital, with a focus on Southern Africa.
