Donald Kizza-Brown

Biography

Born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Donald Kizza‑Brown is a literary scholar whose work bridges African American studies, global intellectual history, and the ethics of storytelling. After completing the Rhodes Scholarship, he obtained a PhD from Harvard then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University before becoming a Scholar‑in‑Residence at Harvard College. His research and teaching explore race, migration, and the politics of knowledge, and he is currently completing a major new biography of Richard Wright that draws on extensive archival discoveries and will be published soon. Across his scholarship and mentorship, he remains committed to expanding access to the humanities and illuminating the creative and intellectual traditions that shaped his own journey from the Mississippi Delta to the academy.
