Heidi Stöckl

Biography

Heidi Stöckl is Professor on Public Health Evaluation at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in Germany and honorary professor of epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her research is focused on the epidemiology of intimate partner violence, the global prevalence of intimate partner homicide, trafficking for sexual exploitation and forced marriage. She has conducted the first prevalence study on intimate partner violence during pregnancy in Germany. She led a quantitative and qualitative longitudinal study on intimate partner violence among adult women in Mwanza, Tanzania funded by an ERC Starting Grant. Through her ERC Consolidator Grant she is investigating violence during pregnancy through a mixed methods design study, building on a birth cohort in Bangladesh. For her PhD she has conducted the first prevalence study on violence during pregnancy in Germany.
