Ulrich Zachau

Biography

After his D.Phil. in economics at Oxford, a stint at McKinsey&Co, and a year as an assistant professor at the University of Bonn, Ulrich Zachau served at the World Bank Group for over 30 years, holding a broad range of management position in operations, finance, policy, and research, including as Director of Strategy & Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean as well as East Asia and the Pacific, and as Country/Regional Director for Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, the Pacific, Southeast Asia, and Turkey. He left the World Bank in 2022 and started teaching some development economics seminars at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, and the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
