Biography

Hugh completed an Arts BA at the University of Saskatchewan in1972, a BA at Oxford in Modern History in 1974, and a DPhil in Modern History in 1978. His dissertation presented original material from the never before opened Gradis family archives, illustrating in detail the provisioning of the French colonies in the early 18th Century.

From 1978 - 1979, Hugh was a sessional lecturer at the University of Victoria (BC)
