Following the LGBTQIA+ Rhodes Forum in 2017, a digital reunion was hosted in February 2021, inviting Scholars to join a candid conversation and share some of their experiences and life stories. This was well received, signalling a strong interest in the community to organise further reunions, as well as other related initiatives.
The launch of Rhodes Connect to alumni allowed for the creation of an online group - a forum for LGBTQIA+ and allies to meet, ideate, and act together. While still in its infancy, this group has potential to drive more engagement and catalyse interactions among community members who are interested and/or supportive of LGBTQIA+ related topics.
These community consultation sessions are a community-driven undertaking aimed at creating a safe space for Rhodes Scholars to come together and think creatively about future LGBTQIA+ related initiatives, generate new ideas and channel their energy towards achieving greater impact.
These sessions will offer a space for ideation and debate, as well as collecting feedback on proposed ideas and actionable next steps.
If you want to volunteer to shape this session, please send an email to alumni@rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk.
