Biography

Meret holds a Master of Science in Global Health from the University of Geneva and an Honours degree in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her award-winning research explores the intersections of gender, politics, and public health throughout the history of Newfoundland, with theses on both eugenics and women’s suffrage. During her Master's degree, she interned with Memorial’s Department of Gender Studies on a public history project marking the centennials of women’s suffrage and the university’s founding. Following this work, she contributed research and led community outreach for the first statue of a woman in the capital city of Newfoundland, commemorating 100 years since women’s suffrage. Meret has presented to UN panels, NGOs, and guest lectured in political theory. She served as protocol officer for the inaugural Global Model World Health Organization and has contributed to education and advocacy initiatives locally and internationally. Her province instilled in her the transformative power of storytelling, a value she carries with her. At Oxford, she will pursue an MSc in Comparative and International Education, focusing on how education systems reflect and reinforce political narratives, furthering her contributions to global academic and policy discussions.
