Baher Al Abd

Biography

Baher is a politics and International Relations student at the University of Bristol, UK. Formerly the President of Student Actions for Refugees Society, and a strategic development officer for a local refugee support project in Bristol, he currently works at a non-profit law firm as a coordinator for a regional project aiming to make legal advice more accessible for migrants in the Southwest of England. He is interested in the relationships between the experience of migration, ethnicities, national identities and belonging. Aiming to develop better integration policies for refugees and migrants, and multicultural economic development models, he intends for his studies at Oxford to further his understanding of the institutional, socioeconomic and political factors that impact the accessibility of national identity for migrants in different countries. Besides politics, Baher enjoys photography, learning different languages and wishes to learn the piano in the future.
