Biography
Arijit Patra is in the final year of his studies in the dual degree (BTech and MTech) programme in Mechanical Engineering along with a minor in Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Arijit is broadly interested in themes related to energy and environmental change. He has been associated with projects in sewage-sludge gasification for energy generation and in microfluidic systems at IIT Kharagpur and the CSIR-CMERI, Government of India, apart from stints in the industry. He received the prestigious Honda Young Engineer and Scientist Award from the Honda Foundation which enabled him to undertake research projects on Near Field Radiation at The University of Tokyo, a stint during which he also trekked up the summit of Mount Fuji to satisfy his affinity for physical challenge. He is an avid quizzer and a community volunteer. For recreation, he plays the lap steel guitar and engages in trekking and solo travel. He has also been an editor of his university's campus newspaper.
