The KARS is meant to create a vibrant community where Rhodes Scholars from Kenya and in Kenya can connect and network; organise outreach programmes and talks; and aims to create a pool of Rhodes Scholars who can support the Selection process.
Our mission is to provide a Scholar-led community for Rhodes Scholars who were elected from, or are now residing in Kenya.

On 13 September 2024, Alumni and Scholars in Residence gathered together for a lovely evening at Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi to send off the newly elected Scholars.
Kingwa Kamencu (Kenya & Wolfson 2009) has recently published a poetry book titled My Soul Begins to Flower. The official launch date is set for 20 July 2025, aligning with Frantz Fanon’s birthdate. In the meantime, Kingwa has been hosting readings for KARS
Victoria Miyandazi (Kenya & Univ 2013) has been named one of The Africa Report’s 10 African Scholars to Watch in 2025 for her outstanding contributions to legal research and human rights. You can find the feature here: The Africa Report
Mary Ng'endo Kanui (Kenya & Linacre 2011) is currently working on a project titled Voices of Change and will be presenting aspects of it on 5th June 2025 (World Environment Day) at the Open University. In addition, a related publication is set to be released in the next month or so
