Biography

Katherine Reiss is an Honours Chemistry student at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, where she conducts research on self-assembling gold nanoparticles. As president of the Mount Allison Rotaract Club, she helped initiate an afterschool program at a local consolidated school focusing on improving education for underprivileged youth. With a passion for teaching, science enrichment, and youth empowerment, Katherine has served as a teacher's assistant for multiple classes, volunteers with Let's Talk Science and has mentored students on how to succeed at university. Not afraid to try something new, she is also the president of Mount Allison's Unicycle Society and past president of the Mount Allison Fencing Club. At Oxford, Katherine intends to continue her research and pursue graduate studies in chemistry.
