Biography

Ilona completed a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Western Australia (UWA). She has volunteered as a school mentor with The Oaktree Foundation, and an English tutor for refugees with Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning. She was also President of UN Youth WA. Ilona's passion for tackling educational inequality led her to create Ignite Mentoring, a not-for-profit organisation that supports high school students from low socioeconomic area schools, and to work for Teach For Australia. Ilona competed in the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC, and has represented UWA at national and international debating competitions. At Oxford University, Ilona hopes to deepen her understanding of social inequalities and levers for change.
