Biography
In 2013, Ashley earned her BComm PPE with distinction, and she was awarded the Hirsch Zitron Memorial Book Prize for placing first in third-year Economics. She is currently completing her Honours in Economics at the University of Cape Town and is the Tutor Coordinator for the School of Economics, for which she oversees 90 tutors for undergraduate courses. Ashley is also a keen mountaineer and has summited both Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Elbrus. She had also led the outreach branch of the UCT Mountain and Ski Club (Siyenyuka), and she has shared her mountain passions with a high school Environmental Club based in one of the largest townships in Cape Town. These bi-monthly hikes have entrenched her long-term commitment to socio-economic and institutional development in Southern, Central and Francophone Africa.
