Over 150 delegates of Rhodes Scholars, Rhodes alumni and international business leaders came together to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship and investment as well as to explore how we can create ventures that improve the world.
The Rhodes Trust announced today that Professor Sir John Bell GBE will become the new Chair of the Rhodes Trustees, starting 1 July 2019. Sir John is Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford and an internationally renowned scientist and clinician. He will take on the role as Chair after serving as a Rhodes Trustee for over a decade. During his time as Trustee, Sir John has convened several Rhodes Healthcare Forums on health innovation and equity, mentored numerous Rhodes Scholars, and championed the Trust’s efforts to promote Scholar well-being and mental health.
Eric and Wendy Schmidt today announced the 20 members of the 2019 Class of Schmidt Science Fellows – a program of Schmidt Futures, in partnership with the Rhodes Trust – at an event in New York City.
Dr Elizabeth Kiss, Warden and CEO of the Rhodes Trust and Mr Alasdair Maclay, Director of Strategy & Development travelled to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing from 17 -22 March to meet with long-standing supporters of the Rhodes Trust, potential investors, media, academics and other stakeholders. At the same time, 17 Rhode Scholars also travelled to China in order to spend two weeks in Shanghai and Beijing meeting with leaders in academic, civil society, business, finance and more.
