Southern African Scholars are warmly invited to a conversation with Dr Elizabeth Kiss (Virginia & Balliol 1983), Warden and CEO of the Rhodes Trust; the National Secretary for Southern Africa, Ndumiso Luthuli (KwaZulu-Natal & St Peter’s 2000), and Jacko Maree (St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown & Pembroke 1978, on Wednesday 17 February 2021 at 17:30 (SA Time).
Given that the Warden is unable to travel at this time to South Africa and engage in person with Scholars, as she has done over the last two years, this will be an online event.
The Warden will update attendees on the Trust’s key focus areas for 2021, how the resident Scholars are managing their studies during the pandemic, and the Rhodes Trust’s strategic vision for expansion in Africa as it heads towards the 125th Anniversary of the Scholarships.
The National Secretary will be available to answer questions relating to local matters in the region; and the unprecedented selection process that occurred in 2020, when our first fully virtual selection of the Scholars-Elect for 2021 took place. Jacko Maree will discuss the ongoing need to support the Scholars Fund.
There will also be an opportunity for general discussion and questions. This informal gathering will take place via Zoom, and partners are welcome to attend.
Places are limited, please submit any questions before 15 February 2021 to: firstname.lastname@example.org
