There Are No Dumb Questions: Divestment from Colonialism, Then and Now

Our generation views the world at a crisis point, driven by an extraction form of global capitalism that has expropriated land and labour from expendable populations in order to power its own wealth accumulation. The Rhodes community has a special relationship to this colonial legacy. Come hear from various speakers as they discuss calls to divest from today’s neocolonial projects — including the fossil fuel industry, the Israeli state’s occupation of Palestine, and the prison-industrial complex in Britain and abroad.

Summer BBQ and RSAF Recital

Summer BBQ and RSAF Recital

The RSAF Recital (with preceding BBQ) is an annual event in which Rhodes Scholars unveil their talents in various performances and acts. It serves as a fundraiser for RSAF, an organization that provides twice annual grants to social enterprises and non-profits serving communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Join us to see a hip-hop dance, an mbira rendition (the mbira is a traditional handheld instrument in the African lamellophone family) and many more exciting acts from members of our community. You will also learn more about RSAF, its mission, and the organisations who have been awarded grants in the past year.
