‘From Surviving to Thriving’ was this year’s theme at the 4th Rhodes Annual Healthcare Forum at Rhodes House on 9-10 February 2019. This two day Forum brought together health professionals, Atlantic Fellows and Rhodes Scholars to discuss and network with each other on how to shift health goals beyond just reducing mortality in order to create a world where everyone can enjoy thriving health.

The first Schwarzman-Rhodes Symposium took place at Rhodes House on 26-28 October 2018 to explore the topic of ‘Public Leadership in the 21st Century: Ethical, Global, Local, Connected’. The Mandela Rhodes Foundation in Cape Town has celebrated the centenary of its Founding Patron Nelson Mandela with a ‘gift’ of 100 Mandela Rhodes Scholars in residence – the largest cohort in the MRF’s history. The Foundation simultaneously celebrated its own 15th birthday, having been founded at the time of the Rhodes Trust’s centenary in 2003.

The Atlantic Fellows program made a major step forward this month in its efforts to advance fairer, healthier and more inclusive societies with 267 Fellows now participating in seven programs operating across five continents. The Fellows and programs are supported by the Atlantic Institute, which is based at Rhodes House.
