  • 09 November 2021 - 09 November 2021
  • 17:30 - 19:00 (GMT+00:00)
  • TBC

Description

Aimed at sharing stories, advice, tips and tricks from past and present DPhil Researchers and Rhodes Scholars in the Rosebery Room.

The theme for this event will be "Staying well during your DPhil” and will take the form of a panel discussion and Q&A.

Each term, there is a DPhil Research Mingle and for the first time in a while, this event will be in-person. Please note we are not offering a hybrid option for this event. These events have provided an opportunity for DPhil Scholars to share, present and discuss research experiences, lessons and work. All current DPhil Rhodes Scholars in Residence are invited to attend, by registering in advance. Aimed at sharing stories, advice, tips and tricks from past and present DPhil researchers and Rhodes Scholars, the DPhil Research Mingles have become a valuable resource and space for all those travelling the DPhil journey.

There will be a panel discussion, small group discussions and a small informal plated cheese/wine offering for each attendee. We have space for 30 Scholars in Residence. Please note, we cannot accommodate outside guests or non-DPhils due to the popularity of the event amongst Rhodes Scholar DPhil students alone. Please register as soon as possible and only if you can attend on the day.

Hosted by Koot Kotze (South Africa-at-Large & Green Templeton 2018), Olivia McGinnis (Pennsylvania & Magdalen 2020) and Patrick MacLean (Victoria & Merton 2020).

Our panelists, who have kindly agreed to share their experiences will be Ngoni Mugwisi (Zimbabwe & Trinity 2017), Morategi Kale (South Africa-at-Large & Linacre 2018) and Terrence Tsui (Hong Kong & St John's 2019).

A reminder, please, on visiting Rhodes House. We expect that each of you will have signed the Attestation that you are either fully vaccinated or have taken a lateral flow test (with negative result) in the previous 24 hours. In case you missed Elizabeth’s email outlining the precautions we are taking to keep everyone safe, please familiarise yourself with our Covid Care Approach and sign the Attestation if you have not done so already. In addition, we are asking all of you to take a Lateral Flow Test in the 24 hours prior to attending an event at Rhodes House..
