Professor Tim Blackman
Vice Chancellor, Middlesex University
Hosted by the Oxford Student Higher Education Research Group (OXSHERG)
Vice Chancellor Tim Blackman has rekindled a debate in UK higher education with a simple question: has academic selectivity in higher education gone too far?
In a recent HEPI working paper, Professor Blackman argues that it has. He contends that the UK's deepening divide between "teaching" and "research" universities mirrors and reinforces class divides and inequalities to the detriment of both students and the UK economy.
Please join us at Rhodes House on October 26th for a discussion with Professor Blackman that will touch on this emerging debate, his path into educational leadership, the role of higher education in modern society, and the changing nature of leadership in the university.
