Alister McGrath studied chemistry as an undergraduate at Oxford, and gained his doctorate in molecular biophysics. He then changed subject areas to Christain theology, and holds two further Oxford doctorates in theology, and in science and religion. He is presently the Andreas Idreos Professor of Science and Religion at Oxford University, with specialist interests in the relation of science and faith, both historically and in the present day, as well as the debates arising from the "New Atheism" of Richard Dawkins. He has published extensively. Recent books include his award-winning biography of C. S. Lewis: C. S. Lewis - A Life (2013).
