Rene is currently studying history at St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. In 2013, she was declared the all India Humanities topper in the CBSE examinations. She has been awarded the Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship (2013-16), Sukhdeo Prasad and Ranjit Singh Memorial prizes for her academic prowess. Rene heads the Gender Studies Cell and is a Presidium member in the History Society at St. Stephen’s. She is an acclaimed slam poet and feminist rapper, featured on the BBC Arts Hour, and published in the magazine Persephone’s Daughters.Rene has been felicitated for performances in theatre, filmmaking, screenwriting, poetry and prose. In 2014, she was selected as the nation-wide winner of DreamStart-- an initiative by UTV Motion Pictures, as a creative marketing intern. She also spent a summer at Harvard, studying sociology and anthropology through cinema. At Oxford, Rene intends to read for Masters of Studies in Film Aesthetics and Women’s Studies, working on feminist film theory and creating films of her own.
