Hannah G. Schneider, Hamden, Connecticut, graduated this year summa cum laude from Georgetown University, with a major in Russian and a concentration in Government. Her thesis was on Heroes and Villains in Putin’s Russia. A distinguished violinist and conductor who has performed and conducted around the world, she deferred her admission to Georgetown to study at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She is fluent in Russian with advanced proficiency in Chinese, Italian, and Hebrew. She won a Georgetown prize for work on the frontiers of social justice, and developed and ran a project for Carnegie Hall working with musicians in the North Caucasus region of Russia. She plans to do the M.Phil. in Music at Oxford, specializing in composition.
