Emilie has just completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Tasmania. Her honours thesis focused on the relevance of international human rights law on the death penalty in relation to the execution of the Bali Two. Her focus is on human rights and refugee law, and she aims to improve the legal protections afforded to asylum seekers.
Emilie is a Director and co-founder of the Refugee Legal Service Tasmania and volunteers with disadvantaged youth teaching them the key aspects of the criminal law. She has previously volunteered with the Oaktree Foundation and was the Tasmanian University Law Society's Social Justice and Welfare Officer. In 2014, Emilie spent six months studying in Denmark. She enjoys singing, travelling and playing hockey.
