Rafi graduated this year as the top student in his year group, with a Gold Medal and a place on the GCU Academic Roll of Honour. At university, he served as the General Secretary and President of Quaid-e-Azam Political Science Society, and has won certificates of distinction for his participation in extra-curricular activities. He was also selected for the Higher Education Commission Scholarship for the students of FATA and his native Balochistan. While at GCU, he also participated in the US State Department Global UGRAD Exchange Program and studied at Augustana College for one term in 2010. His research interests are identity politics and foreign policy in Pakistan, with a special focus on Balochistan. His work has been published in a number of national and international publications, including the Journal of Asian Politics and History. For relaxation, he enjoys playing cricket and football, and competing in quizzes and debating competitions. Longer-term, he hopes to impact policy-making in Pakistan through a career in academia.
