Patrick graduated with First Class Honours in both Law and in Government and International Relations. He has since held posts with the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, with the former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, and with the Human Dignity Trust. Whilst at Sydney, he was President of the University Students’ Union and President of the University Public Speaking Society. In 2011 he won World Champion at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Competition, and also won the Australian Championship. He has also volunteered with the Australian Human Rights Commission, and is currently volunteers for the telephone counselling service Lifeline Australia, and a number of LGBTI charities. For relaxation, Patrick runs, both long-distance road and cross-country, rows and fences. In the future, he hopes to qualify as a barrister and specialise in the protection of sexual orientation and gender identity minority rights.
