Melvyn completed his degree at UCT last year and, since then, has been working for the Boston Consulting Group. Whilst at UCT, he served as Vice-President of the Students’ Representative Council, and as the student member of the University Finance Committee. He served, too, as a member of the Management Team for the South Africa-Washington International Programme, participating in forums held at the World Bank and with the South African Mission to the United Nations, where he focussed on private-sector investment in Africa. Melvyn co-founded the African Student Leaders’ Summit which drew delegates from 11 African countries, and represented South Africa at the 2011 G20 Youth Summit in Paris. For relaxation, Melvyn runs long-distance and plays basketball. Long term, Melvyn hopes to be at the heart of creating the mutually beneficial public-private partnerships which will form the necessary underpinning for the development of the African continent.
