Laura is currently completing her final year of studies at Memorial University and will graduate in April with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a minor in Mathematics. She has always been passionate about helping others and is currently working on an outreach project focused on introducing elementary school girls to engineering while eliminating a structural safety concern at a local elementary school. She has also dedicated her time at Memorial to improving the undergraduate experience of her fellow students by holding roles such as Vice President Academic on Memorial’s Engineering Student Society, Director of Languages and Volunteers for the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students Annual Congress (2011) and Professional Development Director – Newfoundland on the Atlantic Council of Engineering Students. In recognition of her volunteerism and outstanding work terms she was awarded the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education Student of the Year Award for 2011. Outside of her involvement with Memorial, Laura spends her time coaching and playing volleyball as well as playing soccer and the piano. In the future, Laura aspires to improve the lives of others through her interests in biomechanics and business.
