Katharine will complete her MBBS this year. Since beginning her studies, she has been involved in the ‘Dr YES’ programme, providing educational sessions to high school students on health issues such as sexual health, alcohol, drugs, and mental health. She has been closely involved in the Western Australian Medical Students’ Society, and was awarded the 2012 Joel Carson Memorial Award for services to the Society. She has also volunteered with charities which aim to encourage the career aspirations of young Indigenous secondary school students, and to reduce kidney disease and diabetes amongst the wider Aboriginal population. Katharine is a keen debater, and was declared a Grand Finalist at the 2012 Australian Medical Students’ Association National Debating Competition. During leisure time, Katharine enjoys hockey, tennis, swimming, hiking, and travelling. Beyond Oxford, she hopes to work in child and adolescent psychiatry and contribute to public policy on mental health issues.
