Daniel graduated last year as the top Social Sciences student, and has remained at UCT as a tutor and research assistant within the School of Economics. A keen debater, he has also coached others in debating. He won the 2011 National Universities Debating Championships, and was Best Speaker at the 2012 Championships. He has served as Chair of the UCT Debating Union during the last year and as Training Director for the Township Debating League for aspiring young debaters from disadvantaged backgrounds. Daniel is passionate about social justice, and a keen reader of philosophy. Longer term, he would like to contribute to the academic study of economics within South Africa, or to influence public policy within the South African economy.
