Other Information: Rachel completed her BSc in the research-focussed Advanced Science course, majoring in Biochemistry and Genetics, in 2010. Since January 2011 she has been working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Australian Inherited Retinal Desease Register at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Rachel's favoured sport is Australian Rules Football and as a member of the Claremont Women’s Football Club (CWFC) and player 'leadership group' has worked hard to promote and develop Women’s Football in Western Australia. She is a Member and Deputy of the International Committee of the Nedlands Rotary Club, volunteers for the Oaktree Foundation 'Generate' programme, and the 'Live Below the Line' anti-poverty campaign. In 2010, Rachel founded 'Team Riley', a group aiming to raise awareness of mental illnesses, to raise funds and to act as a support network. Rachel hopes to undertake further biomedical research at Oxford and, long-term, to improve the health of the most disadvantaged communities through medical research.
