Other information: Having completed his MBBS, Vinay is working as Junior Medical Officer (Intern Doctor) at the Royal Perth Hospital. Vinay has volunteered extensively both in Australia - with indigenous communities, Sudanese refugees and the homeless - and overseas, as Youth Health Educator in the slums of Istanbul, Carer for HIV children and leprosy patients in rural India, and Medical Assistant in Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania. He was elected as National Youth Leader (2008-2010) for the Australian Red Cross and is now Special Councillor on the National Council. Vinay was Western Australia Youth Citizen of the Year (2008) and received the National Young People’s Human Rights Medal (2009). Long-term Vinay’s ambition is to serve as a leader in public health to create meaningful change for children in communities most ravaged by preventable disease.
