Other Information: David graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 2009 and was the recipient of the 2009 national Golden Key Award for excellence in Health Sciences. He is currently working as a medical intern at East London Hospital Complex, is leading a small retrospective study on the burden of attempted suicide patients, and his work was recently published in two scientific journals. David was formerly President of the University of Cape Town Medical Society and in 2009 was recognised with an award as the 'most outstanding student leader in a society or student organization'. He has been involved in HIV awareness campaigns and served on a number of outreach projects for SHAWCO Health, including as co-manager of a new paediatric clinic at the Imizamo Yethu Township. In 2011, David attended the International Surgery Week Conference in Yokohama, Japan. In his free time, he serves as cantor for the East London Hebrew Congregation, enjoys playing the violin and is a keen swimmer and runner.
