Biography

Katongo is a gender activist. She graduated from the University of Zambia in January 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies with Development Studies and was awarded Best Graduating Student for her program. Her senior thesis investigated the gendered experiences of mothers of children with Developmental Disability.

After graduation, Katongo interned at the Levy Mwanawasa Regional Centre, a 'Think Tank' for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region as Program Assistant for Gender and Human Rights. She also represented Zambia at the United Nations Consultation Meeting for East and Southern Africa on Youth, Peace and Security. She is currently serving as a Staff Development Fellow in the Department of Gender Studies at the University of Zambia. Outside work, Katongo loves to explore new places and travel. She also loves fashion and art.
