Biography
Mary Memory Jiyani is in her final undergraduate year at the University of Cape Town. Driven by her enthusiasm for the law, she has been awarded the Ionnan Scholarship for Criminal Justice, the International Bar Association Bursary, the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship and has been named on the Dean's Merit List for all her years of undergraduate study. Mary has also written articles for and is Senior Editor of the Law School Magazine (Altum Sonatur).
Mary is passionate about the role of the law in fighting social inequality and has regularly volunteered her time at legal aid clinics, the UCT Refugee Rights Unit; and as a member of the Students for Law and Social Justice Society, she offers legal assistance to surrounding townships.
