Kate Nussenbaum

Biography

Kate I. Nussenbaum, Newton, Massachusetts, is a Brown University senior majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience, and Science and Society. A junior member of Phi Beta Kappa, much of her academic work has centered on the ways social factors distort learning capacity and how those barriers can be surmounted. Kate's research, publications and presentations broadly investigate the subject of distraction, and her experiments and interests involve mitigating the effects of socioeconomic status on memory and retention among young children. She is the Senior Editor of the Brown Daily Herald, a peer advisor, and has been a volunteer math and science tutor. She was also associate editor of The Science and Society Review.
