Biography

Helen finished her Graduate Diploma of Education this November with a high distinction average, having previously gained a Bachelor of Philosophy with first class honours and the university medal in political science. In 2009 Helen completed a short-course in foreign policy decision making at Yale University and in 2010 she interned in the United States Senate. Between 2007 and 2011 Helen worked as a researcher and policy adviser to the Hon Tony Abbott MP in the Australian Parliament. More recently, she has taught history and legal studies at a Canberra high school, and tutored in American politics at the Australian National University. For relaxation, Helen enjoys cricket, soccer and tennis and is the current captain of the Australian National University women's cricket team. In the long term, Helen wishes to exert an influence on social and education policy in Australia and obtain a leadership position in the education sphere.
