These Scholarships enable two outstanding students - chosen on the basis of exceptional intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service - to study at the University of Oxford.

Students from Jamaica and the Commonwealth Caribbean who have been awarded this prestigious scholarship have gone on to pursue a variety of careers in public service, academia, business, law, and medicine, amongst others.  Some have appeared in the 'Scholar of the Week' feature on this website. Applications for the Rhodes Scholarship for 2013 will open in mid-2012. Applications for 2012 have now closed, and the Rhodes class of 2012 has been elected.

The Selection Committees typically will meet in Kingston and Barbados in November, and the Rhodes Trust will ordinarily pay travel expenses for those candidates who are invited to interview where they cannot be met from other (e.g. university) sources.  

Prospective applicants from Jamaica and the Commonwealth Caribbean should carefully review:

1. the general information about the Rhodes Scholarships,

2. the selection criteria that apply in all Rhodes constituencies, and then

3. the application criteria specific to Jamaica and the Commonwealth Caribbean.
