The Rhodes Scholarships for Germany

Welcome to the information page for the Rhodes Scholarships in Germany.

These pages provide constituency-specific information on Rhodes Scholarships to Oxford for applicants from Germany. At the moment there are two Scholarships available each year in Germany.

German Rhodes Scholars Class of 2012Information about Rhodes Scholars elected for Germany and around the world can be found in biographies of the Rhodes class of 2013, the Rhodes class of 2012 and the Rhodes class of 2011.

German applicants and Scholars may also be interested in information about the regular events which take place at Rhodes House and the Glimpses of Rhodes video with highlights from a year in Oxford. Recently, German Scholar Hans-Paul Bürkner (Germany & St Catherine’s 1976), the global head of the Boston Consulting Group, gave a talk to Scholars on 'Making globalization a win-win'. Philipp Aigner (Germany & Corpus Christi 2010) also conducted a personal interview with him and the transcript can be viewed here in German.

In March 2011, Professor Peter Eigen gave the German lecture at Rhodes House. A summary of the engaging discussion, about how to promote global practices and the need for a new paradigm for governance, can be viewed here.

Applications

Applications for the Rhodes Scholarships for 2014 for Germany will open on 1 June. An application link will be added to this page on that date.

Prospective applicants from Germany should carefully review:

1. the general information about the Rhodes Scholarship,

2. the selection criteria that apply in all Rhodes constituencies and then

3. the application criteria specific to Germany. Please note that applicants must hold German citizenship to be eligible.
